Alena is the driving force behind the mobile hospice service, enabling people to spend their final moments at home – surrounded by loved ones, free from unnecessary suffering, and with both professional and human support. She creates space where death can be a natural part of life.
Thanks to her work, not only the healthcare system is changing, but also society’s understanding of what it means to die with dignity. Her approach includes not only end-of-life care, but also bereavement support and public education.
Alena Votavová initiated the creation of grief counseling centers open to both hospice clients and the wider public. She launched a medical equipment lending service and organizes fundraising and awareness events – such as the unique “Hospice Haircut Day.”
Through successful fundraising campaigns, the hospice has expanded its care to include pediatric and perinatal patients.
