A unique collaboration between the nonprofit organization Elpida and the gastronomic group Ambiente gave rise to Stará škola – the first café in Prague where all baristas and bakers are seniors. The partnership began early in the process – from concept and layout design to kitchen equipment and staff training.

Ambiente contributed professional infrastructure, know-how, and mentoring – from project design to chefs and coffee trainers. Elpida brought in the strong theme of active aging, a community-based approach, and years of expertise in working with seniors.

The project demonstrates that a partnership between a business and a nonprofit can serve as an incubator for new approaches to work, intergenerational connection, and dignified aging.
